Simulator Training

AirShares Elite is a huge proponent of simulator training for the practice of emergency and abnormal procedures.  There are a number of Cirrus simulators, or flight training devices (FTD), located around the country and AirShares has a relationship with many of them.  More information can be found by clicking the logos on the right and on the list posted below.

Here are some excerpts from an AirShares pilot's testimonial on his experience with the Cirrus simulator and our friends at The Flight Academy in Las Vegas...

"My feeling of the CAPS before the sim session was mixed.  I thought it’s nice to know it's there, but do I really want to use that thing?  Can’t I fly my way out of most situations?  The answer now is no way, don’t even try... The chute, I learned, is to be looked at as the safest way to land the airplane under some emergency situations.  I never really looked at it that way before."

"When it was all said and done including recovery from unusual attitudes I walked away with a lot of respect for what professional pilots go through in sim training but more importantly that I’m back to my professional pilot standards and feel trained even better than ever.  I now plan to alternate between going up in the plane with my instructor and going back to The Flight Academy for Sim training every six months and yes, I’m finally going to take my family for a ride."

Many pilots suffer unrealistic self-assessments of their flying skills and false self-assurances of what they will do when faced with emergency situations.  John Fiscus, Chief Pilot of The Flight Academy, recently wrote a piece for COPA Magazine to encourage Cirrus pilots to use a Cirrus simulator to its best advantage.  Click here to read this enlightening article.
