Recurrent Training

AirShares Elite subscribes to the 2011 Cirrus Aircraft Recurrent Training Syllabus as the underlying structure for our mandatory recurrent training program.  It is a widely accepted view by authorities in the field that the exisitng FAA requirements for part 91 general aviation pilots are inadequate to maintain an acceptable level of proficiency in technologically advanced aircraft (TAA) like the Cirrus.  All new AirShares pilots should familiarize themselves with the contents of this document upon checkout.

The intent of our recurrent training program is not merely to meet insurance requirements, but also for AirShares pilots to use this as an opportunity to take their flying and decision making skills to a higher level.  Our mission is to provide our Owners with the resources they need and to develop the confidence they desire to operate their aircraft as safely as possible.  To this end, it is our duty to be thorough, with an emphasis on Cirrus-specific systems, emergency procedures, especially in-flight IFR emergencies, risk management, aeronautical decision making, and hazardous weather avoidance.  The instructor is encouraged to mold the training to meet the requirements of his/her individual students so long as the items outlined here are addressed.  This is serious business, but it should ultimately be a rewarding and educational experience.

SAFETY ALERT

To: All Pilots Who Fly Cirrus Aircraft
From: Cirrus Aircraft & Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association (COPA)
  Date: August 10, 2010
Re: Safety Stand-Down and Safe Flight Practices  Dear Fellow Cirrus Pilot,

An important part of our relationship with you is meaningful communication, especially around issues that are important to the entire Cirrus community. Several recent accidents involving Cirrus aircraft highlight the need for us to focus our collective attention on safe flight practices, particularly during the landing and go-around phases. Both Cirrus Aircraft and COPA urge you to carefully review this safety alert as well as the following suggestions:

AirShares Elite encourages membership in the Cirrus Owners & Pilots Association (COPA) and highly recommends participation in the
Cirrus Pilot Proficiency Program (CPPP) ; a weekend-long immersion in Cirrus-specific training geared towards enabling pilots to operate their aircraft with greater confidence, safety, and enjoyment.  Click here for more information on this outstanding program.

The 2010 CPPP schedule is now available and events are open for registration.  Click

The CIRRUS Monthly Proficiency Program (CMPP) is a personal development plan designed to increase pilot knowledge and proficiency, and ensure the safe utilization of the CIRRUS airplane.  Each month, this program provides a Ground Segment and a Flight Segment that address important topics of concern for all CIRRUS pilots.  Free sign-up to Cirrus Pilot's World is required.
